Below outlines the basic points of all agreements for the production of websites. An individual project may be subject to additional terms and conditions agreed in writing between Knavesmire IT and the Customer, as required.

  • We offer website build services that use a pre-built OpenSource Content Management System as the framework.
  • Each site uses a pre-designed template to determine the general scheme and layout of each build. This template is then customised to suit the individual requirements of the project.
  • A website can be installed on your own hosting provision or Knavesmire IT can provide suitable shared website hosting at the appropriate cost, than less this cost is included in the cost of the website build. This will be agreed in writing prior to commencing the project.
  • Upon agreement of the project specifics, if we decide to accept the project we will provide you with a full official quote, which will include a detailed breakdown of what exactly is included as part of the cost. It is up to the customer to ensure that this meets their needs, and if not to return to discussions surrounding the specific terms and conditions of the project.
  • Once the quote has been accepted by the customer the following payment terms must be adhered to by the customer – if these terms are not met then the project may be delayed until such time as full payment has been received: Payment is collected in three instalments. The first instalment is invoiced prior to project start, and to a value of approximately one third of the total agreed project cost. Once payment has been made the project will then commence. Second payment of approximately one-third of the total agreed project cost is invoiced upon the publishing of a test-site. The site will be published on a test address and will not be accessible to general users. Until full payment of the second invoice is received no further work will take place. Once payment is received any snagging work such as minor design changes and bug-fixes will then be able to take place. Once this has been completed a final test of the site will take place and the customer will be required to sign-off the site build. Once sign-off is agreed the site will then be published to its live domain and become accessible to general users. Once accessible to general users the final invoice will be generated, which will be a balancing payment of the difference between the total agreed project cost less the first and second invoice payments received.
  • Than less a specific website maintenance package has been officially quoted for and agreed between Knavesmire IT and the Customer any work completed on a website after sign-off will be chargeable at the current hourly rate. This includes updating content, changing design and layout, search engine optimisation, framework/theme/plugin updating, and any other work as required.
  • Each website build is completed using the most up-to-date framework, theme and plugin versions and is protected by suitable security plugins. However, Knavesmire IT take no responsibility for the safety and security of the website once sign-off is completed. This is because a website must be maintained on a regular basis which includes the regular updating of the CMS Framework, Themes and Plugins, and the ongoing administration of the security software as installed. Despite taking all reasonable precautions to protect a website, the safety and security of a website can never be guaranteed. Knavesmire IT is not responsible for ensuring your website remains online, safe and secure than less a specifically agreed maintenance package has been officially quoted for and is actively in place.
  • Should your website fall victim to technical errors and/or malicious activity (such as hacking) Knavesmire IT is not responsible for fixing it than less a backup and recovery service has been officially quoted for and is actively in place. Even if such an agreement is in place we still do not take any responsibility for loss of data, data breaches or any other issues arising in relation to such a breach. We will re-install the site and database files using the last available clean backup (based on an active backup and recovery service), but all responsibility on the day-to-day security of your site and its content is the sole responsibility of the website owner.
  • Whilst the design and build of a website is always done with Search Engine Optimisation in mind, it is not the responsibility of knavesmire IT to ensure that your website ranks highly on search results. Should you require us to carry out Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) on your website with a view to achieving specific results (these can never be guaranteed due to the constantly changing approach of search companies) then this will only be done if Knavesmire IT have provided a specific official quote and an SEO package is actively in-place.
  • Upon sign-off the performance, safety, security and day-to-day operation of the site (as outlined in all the above points) is the sole responsibility of the website owner – specifically the name associated with the domain name registration.
  • All of the above points form the basis of a basic website build agreement. However, additional points (or amendments to existing points) may be made on an ad-hoc basis between Knavesmire IT and the Customer, the details of which will be recorded and agreed in writing (normally via email), taking a digital signature (typed is acceptable) as agreement of the specific project terms and conditions.
  • We reserve the right to make changes, without notice, to any or all of the above terms and conditions.
